treo 600 ring tones

Hi guys... I bought treo 600 and I'm quite happy but... I'm a new palm user and I miss a lot something I used before in my Nokia 9210.. Do anybody knows how can I personalize my ringing tones playing mp3 or .wav? I had different .wav ringing differents for anyone of my friends... I hate that stupid carillion sounds of the sys.... another thing... How can I know if an sms sent is arrived or not at destination?? I know that you could say..if you were so happy why did you changed your mobile?? the reason is simple.. not three-band... no sync with mac... etc.

I don't know about MP3 or WAVs for ringtones, but MIDI files are easy. There are several web sites that offer polyphonic MIDI ringtones out there (including Sprint's PCS Vision site- for $1.50 a ringtone for 90 days!!!). The best deal I've found is 3Gupload.com, you can try out the sounds for free, then if you want some it's a $6 donation for unlimited downloads. They've got thousands of files so you should be able to find some that you like.

Ringtones that play the melody in a very high key seem to work the best. The tiny speaker has no bass so any low sounds are barely audible.

i went to 3Gupload.com but my Treo was not listed on the Verizon pull down menu, so how do I get rigtones from this site on my Treo using Verizon??

You can use an application such as LightWave or Call Filter to play MP3's. You can even customize rules for specific instances/numbers. For instance, I had it set that when work calls it plays a clip from the movie Office Space. Hysterical move and a very funny. When my friend calls, I have the Baseball Tonight theme play. Basically, the options are endless. I've used both, but don't have an opinion either way. I've heard that people are real happy with LigthWave by Toysoft.

OMG. I am about to take a hammer to my phone!
This phone is giving me nothing but problems, and this is after 7 hours of research to determine I wanted this one over a blackberry. First I thought the problem was user error and blondeness, now I think it's more than that! Anyway, I want a ringtone, one that has real music, not some doot doot doot play me tone thing. I understand the phone needs to somehow get an MP3 on it. So I just email it to myself and save it?
That's great and wonderful except that is the WHOLE song.. how do I shorten it to make it into a ringtone? Is there not an easier way? Is there anything like get it now?

Also, really important question, can my phone be hooked up to more than one main computer. I have two computers, a desktop and a laptop and I am having trouble deciding which one to sync it to.

Oh and while I am complaining, my treo came with a cd that I have yet to put in, does anyone know what it will help me with exactly?

I sync my 680 in 3 different PCs (Office, home, and travelling laptop). It works very well and provides extra security.
