Default Using gmail with palmOne Mail v. 1.02a on the Treo600

    Hi,

I am able to receive e-mail but am not able to send
    e-mail.

I have configured the following on my Treo600.

    Incoming POP3 server pop.gmail.com
    Outgoing SMTP server smtp.gmail.com

    Leave mail on server
    SSL required for POP3
    SSL required for SMTP

The error message I get asks me to go to the
Server tab of Accounts settings to correct this.

The configuration instructions in gmail requests me
    to do the following configuration

    pop.gmail.com Use SSL Port 995
smtp.gmail.com Use Authentication Use SSL Port 465 or 587

The e-mail client in Treo does not seem to have options to
configure using authentication and setting port numbers for
    SMTP server.

    Help? Suggestions?

    Regards.
    - Kumar

You are not able to send with GMail with the palmsource mailer because it does not support the secure protocol that is needed in order to communicate with Google's mail servers. Your best option is to purchase Snappermail, ChatterEmail, or VersaMail. SnapperMail is expensive, but one of the best ad would do what you need plus.

    Hi,

Has anybody tried Eudora? It is free and claims SSL support.

    Regards.

    Default solution

I use my outgoing server as my ISP that I use at home, i.e. the comcast server. My incoming is my email server, my outgoing is my home computer ISP - go figure. All I know is that it works perfectly.
