Default Wiping handheld clean

I want to clear everything off the handheld except for the factory installed programs and services. Is the way to do this a hard reset? I tried using FILEZ, but some of the files are ambiguous as to their interdependencies that I'm leery about deleting them.

I want to remove all the 3rd party software as well.

Also, my hot-sync manager still showe programs that I have removed from the device, how do I remove these as well?

thanks,
djd

Yes, a hard reset will do this.

Check your Palm folder --- you should find a Backup folder. That's where all you apps reside -- should something bad happen on your Treo, Palm will reinstall them. However, in this case, you don't want this... so I'd make a copy of it --and then remove all the items in the folder.

I guess you could also just backup the entire folder -- do a clean install of Palm Desktop and then "reintroduce" your User Database. Not sure you need to go that far. Try removing the items from Backup first -- do the hard reset -- HotSync -- and see what you have on your Palm.

Directions for a hard reset on a Treo 600
