Default 1 desktop, 2 devices -- can it be done??

I'm going to be picking up a Treo 650 tomorrow. Currently, I have a Tungsten E. Does anyone know of anyway I can sync them both using the same palm desktop? Because here's the kicker -- I need to use the same name on both. If I don't, all the programs I bought for the palm will no longer work on the new machine. That would sorta suck.

This is only a temporary situation. Hopefully, soon, I won't need both devices, and the 650 will become the only device, which is, after all, why I bought the thing.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Your really going to need to change to a new username. Using the same one will mess up apps on the Treo such as the world clock and your camera. I am speaking from experience as I tried to sync my Treo to my old Tungsten profile. The good news is, if you can show proof of purchase to the developer, they will honor your profile and re-set you to the new one . . .

You might want to read this article in the KnowledgeBase.

Thanks! I'll start contacting the folks. I know palm says it's a bad idea to have two devices and one user name, but quite frankly, the people who wrote the palm desktop didn't do a very good job. I've been using the palm for years and I love the devices and absolutely hate the desktop software.

Anyway, I only have a few bought aps, so even if I have to buy them again, it won't be all that expensive.

And I see you're a fellow mountain biker! Awesome!

What's up Still, I've got a question for you. This may sound stupid but check this out, I haven't been buying a lot of apps because I know (I hope!) I'll be getting a 700P unlocked. So if I do upgrade will I have to buy all new apps for that treo?

Thanks,

Deez

No, most apps will work just fine on the 700P. You may need to upgrade a few to the latest version, however.

To add to kreth's message above, there are a few exceptions. Just this morning I read where JuneFabric's PdaNet would require a different license for a 700P. But most developer's do honor your one time purchase. Sometimes if upgrading to a new version the developer might decide to charge again. (zlauncher 5.0 upgrade requires a new license from early versions) this has nothing to do with moving from a 650 to a 700 however.
