    Default 2.5 - 3.5 mm adapter

    Hi all,

I just got a Treo, and I'm pretty excited about it. The only thing that I don't like is the fact that it has a 2.5 rather than a 3.5 mm plug on it. So to get rid of my iPod, I have to carry around an adapter. I guess I don't care too much about that inconvenience, but what I do worry about is damage to the 2.5 mm outlet from use by the adapter. Has anyone had this problem? I use my iPod a ton, so I'm going to be using the adapter a ton as soon as my 2 gig SD card gets here...

    Thanks,
    Darren

I've been using a 2.5mm>3.5mm adapter from Radio Shack for about a month now to connect my Treo to the adapter for my car stereo. No issues yet. I've been using a set of headphones designed for the Treo outside the car, so I can't give any input there.

I just had to replace my Treo as the headphone jack went bad. I believe this is a known problem and the jack they use is not the best. I was frequently using the jack with a wired headset to talk in the car.

I am so concerned about it that I bought a Bluetooth headset for the car so I don't kill the new Treo. There is an aftermarket alternative which uses the hotsync connector to connect a headphone to instead of the jack.

Search these boards and I am sure you will find numerous discussions about bad headphone jacks.

    Good luck,
    Steve

I just got the dongle adapter at the treo store in today. You can plug them in to your headphones or fm Modulator and leave them attached to them instead of the treo. I think they will work great for me.
