You have to have the out going server set to your cell phone provider not AOL. (unless AOL is your provider)
I have a valor.com e mail account but my outgoing server setting is Sprint. Does this help?
I am having trouble sending messages. I receive the message 554 - 554 AOL will not accept delivery of this message. I can receive e-mail through Versamail with no problem. I have made sure that the port is 587 and I have the correct address for the server. Any ideas? Thanks.

AOL is my email provider. Someone at the Cingular store (my phone provider) told me I have to pay extra to AOL to be able to send email via my phone. Do you know if that's true?
Wow I would gripe at AOL about any charges. Could you set up a Hot mail account to send your e-mail out on.
I do not see how AOL can tell where you are getting e mail. If you were away from home on a different computer AOL would not let you receive e mail???
I was just thinking about your reply.
Your provider to get on the internet is Cingular. Once you are on the internet you check your e-mail on AOLs server. Most servers will not forward e-mail through a different server.
So your phone needs to have cingulars server address not AOLs server. Is your setting on cingulars server for your outgoing mail???
Sprints setting is smtp.sprintpcs.com. If you do not have Cingulars you will need to get it.
If you already have the setting for Cingular and it does not work I have no idea except to get AOL and Cingular together to work it out.
I've never had a problem sending or receiving AOL email and I'm with Cingular.
Here are the setting that should be used:
These were copied from snappermail's email config section but should also apply in Versamail.
IMAP Server: imap.aol.com
Username: your AOL screen name
Password: your AOL password
SMTP Server: smtp.aol.com
Username: your AOL screen name
Password: your AOL password
Tap the "More..." button in the server account settings. In that window, enter the following:
POP3 SETTINGS:
Use Port: 143
SMTP SETTINGS:
Use Port: 587
Treo 750 w/Cingular
I have all of my settings exactly as listed for the AOL server. I'll try changing to the Cingular server and see if that helps. Thanks.
I found the solution to my problem. Seems that I can send email messages to addresses that are already in my contact list. When I write a message and manually type in the address, it won't go. But when I select an address from my contact list, everything works fine.
Hey glad you solved your problem. I wonder why I have to have a different server and you do not???
