650 battery drain after apps. install

I'm a newbie, this is my first Palm phone.

After I installed Filez, VolumeCare and TCPMP I started to notice battery drain (even with phone service off) much worse than before - does anyone know if any of these apps could be the culprit?

i also had increased battery drain after installing volumecare. I assume its the extra power being sent to the speakers to "boost" them thats eating it up. I removed volumecare and it made a difference but the boost i get from it is worth the extra drain so i reinstalled it.

I would tend to think that applications that don't run in the background (use your data connection when you aren't physically using the device) won't drain your battery. On the other hand, using TCPMP to watch movies and shows certainly drains the battery on my Treo
I hadn't pondered the volumecare thing as stated above. I would think that battery drain using it would be minimal, if any, simply because its basically only in use when you are on talking on the phone, or its making some sort of sound . . .
FileZ wouldn't do it. Its not doing anything behind the scenes. Just sitting there waiting on you to use it.

On the other hand, apps like my ChatterEmail which is connected all day long through IMAP protocol will suck battery life . . . If Versamail is set up through POP3 protocol to check mail, say every 20 minutes, this can suck batteries also . . .
