Bulter has a feature to where if your phone gets stollen you can call your Treo, and it will lock down the data. I tried the Butler Trail and didn't like it myself, but I am in the minority I believe. Its a very popular app. It also has some security built in it that you can configure.

One more thing: I think its pretty stable, because several here use it and rave about it.

Glad you got the Treo back . . . I know that was frustrating! Way to be there Kreth!!

NOT 3rd party s'ware? or do I just remove alll those from the folder stillrockin mentioned?
If you're sure that Warden was the culprit, just remove any prc or pdb files related to Warden from your backup folder. However, if you only want your contacts, tasks, calendar, then the best bet would be to use a new name the first time you sync.
EDIT: I see Stillrockin already mentioned the new profile name. That's definitely the "least headache" method...

Glad it worked out for you. Losing data sucks, so I'm glad I could help you out.

I've created a new user profile, and copy/paste memos, tasks & contacts... How do I/Can I recover the "private"files that it didn't copy/doesn't show in my desktop s'ware. Also Is there any software that allows you to create more than 15 categories to file contacts in?

According to this link, 15 is a limitation of the Treo itself. You might need to be more specific on the "private" files. I am guessing that these are going to be either .prc files or databases associated with a .prc.

I made a couple of real important contacts/the notes associated with those contacts & memos "private" (requiring a P/W to access a "masked" file name) using the palm OS... in contact details on each contact edit page...

When I sync with PC... I had noticed before this all happened that the "private" files did not show up on my Palm Desktop s'ware.

And now that I have had create a new user when I did copy/paste between profiles I have lost all of those that were "private"

... & now that I think about it... I wonder if having "private" contacts/memos and installing Warden is what F'ed the whole thing up in the first place... Live and learn!!!

Something that might save you some grief if it ever happens again, is to use a Card back up program. Many of them can be set up to auto back up at a certain time. I have mine set up to back up every morning at 4:00AM. That way, if you lose data, you can sync everything back from your card.

They're probably not showing because of the change in profiles. It would require another hard reset, but there may be a way to get them back. Hard reset your Treo. Then make a backup copy of your original user folder. In the original user folder, delete the contents of the Backup folder. Hotsync the Treo, and use your original user name. This should restore your contacts, calendar, tasks, etc, but no apps, since the Backup folder is empty.
