650 - Initial Thoughts/Reactions

I'm new to EverythingTreo and this is my first post, but I haven't seen a lot of people talking about their Treo 650's yet, so I thought I'd weigh in with my experience thus far.

I just got my Treo 650 this past Tuesday (Nov 23) and it's working great. I had an old Sony N610, and my upgrade was almost totally seamless. The screen on the 650 is terrific. I've used the Blazer browser to check out both mobile-optimized and regular websites, and the rendering is very impressive.

I use DateBk5 (an incredible piece of software) and had to make a couple of settings and icon adjustments, but when I did that everything was back to normal, and even better in some ways. (the icons are shown even better in this device than in my old OS4 320x320 Sony.

I use SilverScreen as a launcher, and with a 128MB card installed, the backdrops to its themes really show off the outstanding display.

The camera takes nice shots and allows you to attach them to your contacts for picture-based caller id, which is pretty cool.

The only issue/question I've had (and it's a minor one) is that the LED indicator light seems a bit unpredictable. Most of the time it's blinking green very fast (when I don't have a charger connected).

Don't worry, the blinking LED is normal.

I had bought a Treo 600 about a week before returning it and buying the Treo 650. Hands down the 650 is much better on your eyes and time when trying to download a regular website. The keyboard is a little better also, i could not get many words out on the Treo 600.....the flatter keys on the 650 help that out alot.

My only concern with the Treo 650 is that, mine at least, takes a little long to disconnect from the Internet. I don't know if there is a Timeout I can reduce to help this out or not....but it'd sure be nicer to disconnect more smoothly.
