Default 650 Power/Screen

In googling I haven't found much regarding my 'new' 650's powering down after 30-45 seconds even tho I've set it to stay active for 3 minutes. It's annoying enough that it would be worth it ( I think ) sending it in for repair.

Is this a known issue? Any fix, or third party software which might address this?

Hi Bluewhale,
I noticed the same thing with my Treo 650. I will try the change time screen remains on and see how it goes.

Hi,

There's a issue with Cingular Treo 650's that was addressed with the 1.17 ROM updater.

Try a test. Set it for 3 minutes and then let it sit and see how long it takes to sleep. If it works fine, then make a call and see how long it takes to sleep. That was a problem with mine, it was fine until I made/received a call then the timeout was reset to 30-seconds.

I downloaded SetAutoOff which allows you to set the timeout to whatever you want. But, more importantly for me, it shows you what the timeout is actually set for. So if you set it for 3 minutes in Preferences (or SetAutoOff) and check SetAutoOff it will show 3 minutes. Make a call and check SetAutoOff again and it may show 30-seconds. Preferences doesn't show what it's actually set for.

You can get SetAutoOff here:

The Cingular ROM updater 1.17 seems to have fixed that.

There's another app, StopDim, that stops the phone from dimming when you're on a call as well as has an option to fix the Cingular bug. You can get StopDim here:

The AutoSet applet works great. Thanks for taking to time to point me toward it.
