First, try entering #*377 and then press dial. That should bring up a window that hopefully provides the program that caused the crash. This is not always finite, but it can help.
You need to figure out if it is a hardware problem or a software one. If you only have the original Cingular items that limits the programs. Have you begun entering any data like contacts and phone numbers? Have you done a Hotsync? Was the phone completely stripped when you got it or could there be any data or programs left from the former owner? What version of Palm Desktop and Hotsync is installed? Did you get the disc with your purchase?
Did you have an old Palm device and software that you may have had on your PC?
That's enough for now. As you can see there is a lot to consider, but all of this should help to narrow down the problem efficiently.
One other thing, if this is a Cingular, does it have a SIM card? I understand there was a big problem with the tray that holds the SIM card in place and sliding a thick piece of paper (business card?) in to tighten it up solves the reset problem. Search these boards for info. Here is the Palm article:
