 |  650 Restarting Randomly, with no apps installed I just got a 650 off of Ebay. It will randomly restart it self about 15 times a day, and I have not a single app installed. Any help greatly appreciated. Cingular if that helps... |

| Hi and welcome to ET... First, try entering #*377 and then press dial. That should bring up a window that hopefully provides the program that caused the crash. This is not always finite, but it can help. You need to figure out if it is a hardware problem or a software one. If you only have the original Cingular items that limits the programs. Have you begun entering any data like contacts and phone numbers? Have you done a Hotsync? Was the phone completely stripped when you got it or could there be any data or programs left from the former owner? What version of Palm Desktop and Hotsync is installed? Did you get the disc with your purchase? Did you have an old Palm device and software that you may have had on your PC? That's enough for now. As you can see there is a lot to consider, but all of this should help to narrow down the problem efficiently. One other thing, if this is a Cingular, does it have a SIM card? I understand there was a big problem with the tray that holds the SIM card in place and sliding a thick piece of paper (business card?) in to tighten it up solves the reset problem. | -Ok, it says the reset was caused while running calender. dataMgr.c,Line8709,DmWrite:DmWriteCheck failed -All the contacts are on my Sim, -I have not hotsynced yet -I did the restart holding the power button and the reset, and cleared the phone when I got it. -I dont have a disc but I am getting one. -No old Palm device, first one.. thanks for the help, let me know if make anything of all this... |

| Could you respond to a couple of the other questions I asked? Have you begun entering any data like contacts and phone numbers? Did you consider the SIM tray problem, but exclude it? New question is how much free memory does the Treo have? You could have a corrupted database. Take a look at dbase, a free utility available here: http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/utilities.htm Another thought is to try a zero-out reset.
