    Default 650 Treo crashed!

HELP! I purchased my treo 650 on Wednesday. I am a long time Palm user and finally made the leap to the treo. For three days this was the greatest invention ever. Last night it crashed. I have been up most of the night trying everything possible to get this back on track. It is running in a continuous loop, or when I sync it to the computer it gives me the multi colored bars of death!

    HELP!!:frown:

copied my response from your post.

need more info. You reset and the phone will work until you sync? then it starts looping? If this is the case you may want to only sync certain items at a time until you find the app that is causeing the reset. Versamail caused some resets with my treo with a couple of e-mails.

A warm reset will get you out of that reset loop, as it does not load applications and let you do some investigating. What applications have you added? From what I read, you do have something in your backup file that is not playing right. Rename the backup folder on the desktop, resync to get your PIM back on and then add your apps one at a time. The Palm site has a lot of detail on doing the various reset things. I have been hit by similar situations a time or two.

Also, do you have a device based backup application? If not, you seriously need one - everyone needs one. The best out there now is Resco Backup and always do a backup before play time, aka installing new software/updates.

    hello katymom,

This is Kevin from Palm Inc. benjie and plunker give good advice. You can learn about all in the resets in the Palm knowledge Library article Resetting your device (Soft, System/Warm, Hard, In-Cradle, Power Down, Battery Disconnect, Zero Out).

There are also more details on renaming the backup folder in the article Diagnosing problems caused by third party applications.

    Sincerely,
    Kevin
