    Default 650 wakes up dead

Help! on behalf of my dear friend, who bought her Treo on my recommendation. It has been 'waking up dead' most mornings, requiring a soft reset (battery removal) to get it going, and showing that the battery is fully charged (on the charger overnight). I had thought that the culprit was her backup program (BackupMan) which was supposed to run overnight, however, the problem still occurs after disabling it, again, not every morning, but most mornings, when she goes to take the phone off the charger. There is no other program she has that runs overnight ... any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

So the phone is fully charged it just needs a soft reset to get it going? You have a backup program? I would due a hard reset (after sync) and try the treo clean for a few days. Then add any 3rd party software back one at a time over a few days to see what was or is causing it to reset.
I do not know how backup man works or what features it has on the treo.

Specifically, it is completely dead, so as to not receive calls or make alarms/notifications. No record of missed calls if the caller did not leave a voice mail ... just dead ... until she does soft reset. Yet, once that is done, the battery is fine - fully charged.

She runs very few 3rd party applications ... but will try your advice. Thanks!

I would like to know how this worked out for your friend. My phone is doing the same thing. Thanks!

She gave up ... and put her SIM card in a real phone, and is using the Treo as a PDA. :frown:

Did I read that the treos required a upgraded sim card or a larger one. If you know someone with a newer sim card have them try it to see if the phone acts differently

How old is this Treo and is it a GSM model? I recall reading that there were many of the older GSM phones had resetting problems related to an ill-fitting SIM card tray.

There was something issued by Palm so you might try searching over there. I think there were also some earlier threads here at ET and if you use the search function you should find something.

I believe the down and dirty fix was to cut a piece of thick paper, like a manilla file folder, to the same size as the SIM card holder and to put it behind the holder.

I hope this is of some help,
