650, Y/N, and how to outfit
Former user of pre-blootooth 600 Treo wonders whether to buy a 650... Thanks ahead of time for whatever patience/insight can be mustered in response to closing Q's.
Cons:
(1) when 600 had reception issues, wireless provider and Treo corporate played finger pointing games; issue never resolved.
(2) when screen failed on 600, situation was instant replay of above, and again, never resolved; 600 now literally serves as a paperweight (until I see Ed C somewhere).
(3) unclear PalmOS future, given the torrid 700w (EC & BG) affair, possible ramificns.
Pros/Hopes:
(1) the desperate need to return to the 21st century (i.e., to leave this DayTimer- and PostIt-ruled multi-address, unsynched existence behind).
(2) that the much greater market penetration by the 650 will mean necessary support structures/services will have evolved in parallel.
QUESTIONS:
(A) Voice dialing of 650 via Bluetooth headset? (Showstopper if not, so HELP!)
(B) Best (glitch-free I/O) headset, boom-miked if possible, for commuting use?
(C) Same headset shared with multiOS laptop? (XP, OS X, Linux)
(D) For Chicago area, a service provider for N-S corridor, Lake Forest <--> Hyde Park?
[Cingular has not been adequate in terms of signal, esp on UP North line and on N-S
expressways, despite adverts and promises.]
Cheers. [Prof D]

You will not be able to Voice Dial via a Bluetooth Headset on the Treo 650. This has to due with Palm's implementation of Bluetooth on the 650.
(B) Best (glitch-free I/O) headset, boom-miked if possible, for commuting use?
The Sony HBH-300 is supposedly very good in noisy situations and has a longer boom mic.
(C) Same headset shared with multiOS laptop? (XP, OS X, Linux)
Not sure I understand this question.

Hopefully, we have some Chicago readers who can provide feedback on coverage. Are you near Vernon Hills? I visit once a year to see my sister, brother in law and 4 nieces.
Hope this helps.
