Default 802.11

Sure do wish the treo 650 could use Palm's wireless LAN (802.11) SD card. Does anybody know what the problem is with this?

This is one of the great mysteries. One would have thought they would get this working once Handspring fell under PalmOne. I also thought we'd see Wifi in the Treo 650.

Not to sound cynical, but the problem is that you and I aren't PalmOne's customers. Their customers are the wireless service providers, who don't want us to play end-run around their data plan fees by accessing a local WiFi hotspot. Do you honestly think a Treo driver for an SDIO card can't be made? Do you believe PalmOne's claims that it's a "power issue" or that there'd be some sort of "interference"? Look at what Shadowmite's done with a little spare time, lots of smarts, and most important, motivation.

Sorry. End of rant.

C-guys will probably be releasing a PalmOS driver for their SDLink 11b 802.11b SDIO card in the next few weeks. Whether or not it will be compatible with the Treo 650 remains to be seen.

Check http://www.mobileplanet.com/product....%5Fid=MP950540 for the enfora Wi-Fi sled for the Treo. Looks a bit large but as there is no other option yet....
