Acrobat Reader Crashes from Blazer Web PDFs
This error is repeatable.
Everytime I download a PDF from Blazer v4.0 and then click Save and Open (or even Save), I am asked to "allow it" to Adobe Reader. If I click no, nothing happens. Ok.
If I click yes, which I want to do, the Palm OS reboots.
Any suggestions? Google search came up empty-handed. Perhaps poor key words.

Not really, but I'm guessing this sounds like one of the problems where you have a lot of third party applications loaded. Do you?
When basic applications stop working with each other -- as the Reader came on my install CD, I'm considering it one of the basic applications -- it's usually a conflict with another parties application.
What's worked in the past for others is to start uninstalling all your third party applications until it starts working the way you want. And then start re-installing them again to see which ones work.
Sorry. I know it's probably not the answer you want.

RE: Acrobat Reader Crashes from Blazer Web PDFs
I read an article on PalmOne's website (that I cannot locate) that explained that although Acrobat registers itself on Palm OS as the default handler for PDF documents, it is not able to read PDF's until they have been converted by Adobe Reader for Palm OS on the PC. So in summary, you cannot download PDF's directly from Blazer to the PDA. Kinda stinks if you ask me.

so, how do you get them then? as email attachments? does that work?

You can only hotsync them files onto the PDA after they have been converted by Adobe Reader for Palm OS.

So, what everybody is saying is that we can look at Word and Excel documents, and PowerPoint presentations on our 650. That these types of files are converted on the device.
But, if someone sends us an email with a PDF attachment, we first have to get that PDF on the PC. Convert it. Synch it back to the device. Then look at it in the reader?
Is that about right? Please understand I'm not shooting the messenger here. I'm just a bit surprised.

Yep. Unfortunately, so far that is the way it happens. Some people have some bootleg methods to work around this, but they are not guaranteed to work.

Can someone explain to me why it's a big deal to convert on the device?

Well, for starters it probably doesnt help that the company that actually makes the file format (Adobe) hasn't made it directly possible yet. I don't really know what would be involved...maybe someone should "throw down the guantlet" over here and make a bounty for someone to do it.

Good news on the PDF front. I received news from DataViz that they will be showing native PDF support at CTIA next week. It will released in the fall as part of their Documents to Go Premium product.
This native PDF solution provides Palm® Treo™ smartphones and other Palm OS devices with an image-rich, WYSIWYG-view of product brochures, manuals, annual reports and other common Adobe PDF files without requiring any desktop conversion.
