Already-installed Tomtom Nav 5 takes FOREVER to daily sync

I've been using Tomtom Nav. 5 for quite a while, and just installed it to my new treo 650. Maps on SD card, app installed as directed. Everything works great. BUT.... Each and every time I do my daily hotsync, it takes FOREVER (i.e., overnight :mad because it hangs on "synchronizing Navigator" on the phone and it says "backing up currentmap.dat" on the Hotsync progress dialog box on the pc. Everything is enabled on my sync manager, the SD card is inserted, and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong! I d/l the latest software for the treo. I must be doing something fundamentally wrong here, but I can't figure out what! (And I also tried changing the Tomtom conduit to "Do Nothing". No difference. I tried removing the card during syncing. Same result. Any ideas? Anyone?
