Listen guy, not sure where you are trying to take this. A question was asked and I gave an answer. This is not news, it's old stuff. No company other than onstar in the US is using it for tracking because it's in the courts right now. Fears of abuse, etc...
Even disney mobile has it, so parents can track their kids. It's not a matter of shutting the from the phone, if the phone itself is shut off then your location cannot be calculated accurately, they would only be able to calculate to the last point your cell registered with a tower.
If you have skeletons in your closet, I suggest you work on them.

Calm down, Candela. No skeletons in my closet. It's just that you are making claims that diverge from what I've read (see links in previous messages) about this stuff being generally accessible now. You gave an answer - but is it true? That's what I want to know. When you say, "Yes you can be tracked," and, "There are companies that provide tracking services," I would just like some hard evidence. What companies can track a Treo? Names, links, anything would be nice. I'm not asking about some kids phone from Disney, or the OnStar package with GM cars. The guy wants to know if his company could actually be, right now, tracking his Treo. I'm not asking about theory, or a blog about specific phone units in other countries.
You say this is old stuff, general knowledge. Please show me. Are companies doing the tracking through Verizon? Cingular? T-Mobile? Sprint? Some other major phone company, or another company with the right technological access? I did some searching on my own (a few links posted before you entered the discussion), but didn't come up with anything solid. You say there is. Probably there is and I missed it. You seem pretty certain. All I'm asking for is you provide us a link or something solid. Thanks!
