    Default Am I being tracked?

My work provides me with my TREO 650, it is under their account. I do use this phone for business and personal use. I am trying to find out if my phone can be tracked by the account administrator? Anyone have a clue?

Do you mean physically tracked (via GPS)? No, you are not being tracked. But since you're worrying about that, perhaps you should update your resume (or reconsider the locales you are frequenting) ...

I had read about a monthly service ($30.00) that you could track cell phones and see where they have been (GPS route kind of) This was geared more to tracking where your kids are going or have been. I guess businesses could use it too.

I'm not sure if this is available but I feel like it is being tested in Phoenix or I saw it on the Phoenix news

It uses the GPS locator in your phone. You could turn it off if they (big brother ) is tracking you.

I don't think this is generally available - yet. This article http://www.newsfactor.com/story.xhtm...d=01100000A9QB suggests that it is a feature that will be included in some future phones. This site http://www.travelbygps.com/articles/tracking.php claims that the GPS information is only transmitted when a 911 call is placed. If anyone has information to the contrary, please share it.

Yes you can be tracked. Not only the treo, with any cell phone. There are companies that provide tracking services and they do it via triangulation, no gps needed.

Can you share with us some evidence of that?

This is not new. That's how e911 tracks the location of a cell phone caller. It's not precise like GPS but it will pinpoint you to within a very very short distance. Google triangulation and cell phone.....

In a previous post I gave a link detailing the 911 issue. You stated there are companies that can track another person's cell phone. Can you provide some evidence for your assertions? Not trying to be cantankerous - I really would like to know.

This blog describes a service in the UK; the comments on the blog note the possibility of turning it off from the phone. But that's the problem - a blog and its comments aren't really evidence I'd rely on. Anything besides a blog about a foreign country's alleged service?
