Application Crashes on Laptop
Help!
I am a new user -- the Palm 650 (unlocked) device works fine, but the software application (v4.1.4) on a MS Windows (XP Pro) computer, after install, and after sync with the Palm 650, crashes within seconds of opening, and asks if I want to report an error to MS (I tried on a XP home desktop -- same results). Here is the info on error message:
AppVer: 4.1.4.0
ModName: MFC42.dll
ModVer: 6.2.4131.0
Offset: 00004973
Is there a software patch to fix this problem? Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have palm on a xp pro version at work and it works fine. My desktop version is 4.1.4 (sprint install disc). You might save or copy your user data and remove/reload the palm software or contact palm with the error info.

have you tried dialing the error code cingular is #*377 and hit the dial button and it will give you a clue as to what program caused the error. Once you know that you can narrow it down further. Do you have any third party programs on the treo. How much memory is free the treo is buggy when your free memory is low. Keep us posted.

The OP was talking about Palm Desktop crashing, not an error on the Treo.
Tom, have you installed something on your PC recently? Usually DLL errors like this are caused when the file is overwritten with an older version from another app. The easiest fix would be to reinstall Palm Desktop. It won't over-write your user files, so you should be fine.
