Default Assigning Quick key values

I'm trying to set the Quick Key values for Speed Dial entries in my Favorites. I'd like to assign a numeric value but it only allows me to enter an alphabetic character. Is this normal, or I'm I doing something wrong?

TIA

Rick

hit the black-topped button to the left of the Z key, & that will enable numbers. HTH!!!

I tried doing that, but when I attempt to enter a number it just beeps at me and the "number" mode designator in the lower left of the screen disappears.

Seems like it wants me to enter a letter? Is this the way it is designed to work?

thanks!

You can't assign numeric values, only letters. And the letter "E" is reserved for voicemail.

Interesting. On my favorites Voicemail shows as corresponding to the digit 1. It is hardcoded on the display, and an envelope is hardcoded on the one button on the display number pad.

I noticed that on the keyboard that the letter E is also the digit 1 when in numeric mode. I suppose the Treo designers thought it best to eliminate the need to switch into numeric mode before pressing a "quick key". Of course this eliminates using the number pad on the display to speed dial, except for voicemail.

Thanks!!
