Default assigning ringtones

I'm having trouble assigning downloaded mp3 ringtones to my fav buttons speed dials. I use callguard as my mgr, and I download the ringtones to my card then use callguard to transfer onto my 650. I check the ringtones in sound preferences and they all work fine. I can assign the ringtones to known callers or unknown and they work. My trouble is, I assign a certain ringtone to a speed dial favs button, and the ringtones does the known caller tone. If I assign a ringtone that is a system tone, to my favs button it works. How can I fix this?. Thanks.

who is your carrier? The reason I ask, I am with Sprint and I can easily assign ringers I have made from .mp3's to my favorite callers. A friend has a 650 on Verizon and she absolutely cannot assign a homemade ringer to a favorite. When you select the ringer, it uses the known caller ringer, just like yours is doing.

Firstly. The standard ring tones that come with the TREO...what format are they ? Those are midi ? If so can we add more standard ringtones like that (not mp3) into the Treo ? I have Midi Geek Sounds which used ot work on my palm T3. I tried installing them into my Treo but it didnt work. Any ideas please ???

Most use minitones (freeware) on your treo. You can crop your music with another program and when you install the music to your treo, open minitones to convert and move it to your treos ringtone folder. I believe minitones can crop a song on the treo and then convert, move to the treos ringtones. This way does store them in the treos main memory. Average cropped music is 200-300kbs for me.

The only other way is to buy a 3rd party ringtone manager.

I use callguard which manages the ringtones. As I transfer from my sd card to my 650, it converts. They play fine when assigned to known and unknown callers. My problem is assigning to a specific contact.

I'm sorry to say I think it is due to Verizon. I made all of my ringtones with Minitones and it put them into my ringtone folder, but I can assign any of them to Favorites.

I was responding to plainmans post but dollface is probably right about the issue being a verizon one.

Well from what I understand is Verizon ringtones, for some odd reason, have to be in .wmv format. I tried to send .mp3 ringtones to my friend and he canʻt use them. I have Sprint and he has Verizon. After some research he found out that Verizon uses a.wmv format instead of .mp3.

So if you have a way of converting those ringtones to .wmv they should work.

Naloboy > Im basically into video production and can cross convert between most formats on my avid workstation. wmv is windows media video ! Are you sure ur not referencing wma = windows media audio. Its funny that a phone will want wmv for a ring tone. wma is a possiblility, especially if the phone is windows os based.

Plunker > Are you sure i should get a ring tone manager ? I dont want any fancy mp3 ringtones. Im looking for those add on midi tones or something.

Also im hoping someone will answer the question as to what format most standard ring tones that come with the Treo are ?? Are they Midi ????
