Back up failed
system backup failed. there is not enough space left on the volume 0x2A0F. I use to be able to backup fine. on my SD still have 555.9M of 982.1M and on the phone 14.1M of 23.7M what could be the problem here? if I do a manual or set to auto same error. it was able to backup 1 file and I thought maybe it was to much so my SD has no backup files except music files and tcmp files and videos but has enough room.

No one knows the answer to this question?

You didn't indicate which backup program you're using.
I personally find that RescoBackup works great. Fast and offers various different backups: incremental, differential, full, etc.
I would start worrying if you find that you aren't backing up your Palm to the SD card.
Maybe there's some kind of corruption in a file that's in RAM that causing it. You may want to first install a backup program and run that and see if it backs up properly. Then, do a zero out reset and wipe everything clean hopefully getting rid of that problem before re-loading your files back, ONE by ONE.

sorry I had that in there guess I took it out when I retyped a few things, I'm using backupman and it's registered so I sent them an email so for no replies. I was able to get it to work again but with the trial version of the backupman ver. 2 but why should I have to pay for it when they say I should be able to upgrade and when I try to do an upgrade there program tells me I have to remove the old and when I do it ask for a license and it won't take the old 1 b/c of the version.

Can you uninstall the program? Check out Destaller Lite (freeware)
http://www.rogame.com/dat/Destaller_Lite_2.6.zip
Once the program is uninstalled, then, install the trial version of BackupMan version 2 and register with the same registration code.
Sometimes, you have to remove the older version first before you can install the new one and sometimes, it will replace the older version when you install the new.

Did that already, on their site they say do this if you're upgrading from 1.5 and do this for new install, when I d/l the 2.0 and I followed the upgrade instruction that's when they said the 1.5 license isn't going to work and I need another 1, I was like what the heck is that about, how can they say it's an upgrade when you have to get a new license. that's another reason why I sent them an email but nothing yet.

Okay, on their page:
Bits 'n Bolts Software
it does say that you are entitled to a free upgrade if you purchased it on or after Dec 1, 2005.
And that you have to request for the "free upgrade" or discount via their online system:
Bits 'n Bolts Software
I'm not sure what else you can do if their online system tells you that you need to pay a discounted "upgrade" fee.
Unfortunately, a lot of developers will allow a free upgrade within the version number (eg. 1.2 to 1.5) but will require either an upgrade fee from one version to another (eg. 1.3 to 2.1). That is usually the norm. After all, the developers are simply just a one man company that is doing the program to supplement some income and it's not a full time job (yet).
