Hi:

Sorry I am not the lovely Lulu, but here goes....

Much of the battery life really depends on what you use it for as well as how many background applications you have running. Checking email servers every 15 minutes? You will use up the battery faster than if you pull every few hours. Surf the web a lot? Remember to disconnect so the connection doesn't keep draining the battery. Watch movies or listen to music?...Drain the battery faster, etc.

Frankly, I generally get a day out of a charge and I am fine with that. On some of those really looooooong days, I get down to 10-15%, but it makes the full day. A recent example is getting up at 7 EST and then flying to LAX extending the day by an extra three hours. It still made it and I was using it quite a bit at the airport due to the three hour take-off delay.

Hope this helps,
SteveTaz

Also how long have you had the 650 and did you buy it new? If its a used one the battery may be somewhat compromised by age but more than likely its some sort of usage issue as already mentioned. I keep mine charing in the charger while Iam at my desk at the office. And I have a charger in the car and one hooked uop to the house computer for use as needed like on the weekend

In general, the Treo's Li-ion battery will last reliably for about 2 years before waning between charges. Did you previously get more life out of a charge? Here's Palm's guide to maximizing battery life as well. You can also consider investing in a 3rd party higher-capacity battery.

P.S. I'm not lulu either.

You can override the LED using 3rd party apps like LEDoff or some phone maganement apps. Realistically, though, that won't save you much. LEDs are very miserly when it comes to power consumption.

so the one day battery life is acceptable even though the reviews and manuals say 2.5 days with hard use is the norm.

it could also be that the battery you got off ebay was "new, old stock" meaning it's sat around since the invention of the treo. There is no way to gauge for sure the age of the battery itself unless , there is a Copyright notice on it, date of manufacture, or, if you have someone to help you decode the Lot number under which the battery was built. Sometimes it pays to buy from either a manufacturer, such as Palm, or your friendly neighborhood EverythingTreo Store, or other established places to buy parts & accessories from. On the other hand, your batteries may be fine, and your power saving settings need to be adjusted, or you are just getting a lot of heavy use from the phone.

1 day is normal with the default battery, especially if you're using Bluetooth or checking e-mail frequently.

yes and also throw into the mixture signal strength, especially for us Sprint/Verizon users. I have always gotten one day of good service. Ben
