    Default Bluetooth Problems

i'm having a problem getting my phone to recognize my bluetooth device. It was working before but for some reason its not now. The setting is On Discoverable and the bluetooth icon is indeed on. I have the Motorola HS850. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you pairing them each time you want to use ur headset? You only pair them once and the phone should pick it up everytime you turn on the headset.

My HS850 would rarely re-connect with the Treo. They would pair initially just fine and work great. Every subsequent connection would be an adventure. I learned to observe the indictor LED on the headset when I opened the boom. If the LED blinked normally I was all set. Ususally the LED would blink once maybe then go into a sort of 'glow' condition. That was a clear indication the headset wasn't connected properly. The audio would not transfer to/from the Treo and yet the audio wasn't available on the Treo itself! If you open the boom, observe, and repeat as necessary you will get the normal LED blink condition but it's usually four or more boom operations.

I use the Palm Treo Wireless Headset and it performs neeeearly flawlessly. The irony is I had the TWH originally and purchased the HS to keep in my wife's vehicle. Thought the concept of the boom turning the headset ON/OFF was convenient. Well either the headset doesn't turn OFF or the dang batteries leak because the headset was always dead when I went to use it. I've talked to quite a few folks I see using the HS and they ALL report the battery life is terrible but they charge it daily so no biggie for them.

So .... after all that rambling, find someone else who will use the HS on a non-Treo device (plays well with other phones) and get yourself a Palm TWH.

    Good Luck!

I just wanted to point out that your Treo does not need to be set to Discoverable to pair a headset. The Treo is looking for the headset, not the other way around.
