    Default Camera on Treo 650

Hi everyone, been using my Treo 650 for about a month now and am realizing that I am going to have some issues with the camera. Its a personally owned phone that I use for business because I wanted the PDA functionality without going the blackberry route. My problem is that I work in an environment where most of the places that I visit do not allow cameras of any sort. My options are to go with a blackberry 8700, which I don't like because not all applications work with the scroll wheel only, or stick with my treo which is my preference and find a way to disable my camera. Someone suggested scratching the lens with sand paper or something like that but don't want to do that because I want to be able to use it for personal reasons when not at work. If anyone has any suggestions, it'd be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Some treos 650s do not or did not have camaras. Maybe a trade is in order. There is a program that you can hide the icon from your menu but the camara is still there. There may be a way to use filez or another file manager program that will disable it for you. But when you sync it would come back I believe....

a free program obfuscate will hide your camara app from view. to see it you would have to open obfuscate to change the setting to show your camara app

    Hi:

Unfortunately even though you may be able to hide the icon, sandpaper the lens or put tape over it, the reality is that the device will still have a camera in it. Any government installation banning cameras will have to confiscate it as they can't run the risk it only appears to be disabled.

If you are in a private facility with the same rule to protect proprietary products or information I am guessing they would take the same stance. Do you think it would be fair to expect security personnel to assess if your camera is actually disabled or if it could be reactivated once inside? I think not.

There aren't many of the 650s without cameras, but they were out there for exactly this reason. You might look to a trade if you can find one.

Or leave it in your car.....

I have actually seen several treo 650's recently on ebay that did not have cameras, they said they were used in law offices. Check them out, if cheap enough you could just use that one for your business use.
