System Tools or Repair Camera on Treo 650 sucks! Am I doing something wrong?

Am I using it wrong or is it just crappy? All the pictures that I take and receive on my Treo aren't clear. They are blurry and fuzzy. The same pictures on my bf's Razor is so sharp. I'm hoping that there is a trick to it and that you guys can help me out. But I think it doesn't have enough mega pixles or something.

I noticed that when I take a picture, the picture is pretty clear (not great but not blurry either). But it's when I send it to another phone, it sends a blurry picture. Is this a setting problem or is this to be expected?

What you describe hasnt anything t do with teh megapixels but the speed of the shutter as it corresponds to when you move your hand after taking the pic. Try waiting a sec or two after taking the pic (still keeping your hand still) and see if that gives a better image for you.

I know what you are talking about but that's not the case this time. When I take a picture, it looks pretty good but when I do MMS the picture gets blurred. I don't know why. Two images (the one I took and the one that gets sent) have different qualities. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

There may be a compression being done on the image when it is sent so it doesn't have to send the full size picture (bytes) and you are losing resolution when it sends. There may be nothing you can do about that, though. Just my thoughts.

From my reading of Now You Know Treo, they say the camera performs best on "cloudy days". Who knew? I would have tought sunny days considering there isn't a flash on the Treo.

Also, I use the center button on the five way navigation to snap your photo rather than touching screen (which will cause camera shake).

You also have to keep in mind, the Treo is what it is... a smart "phone". I sure didn't buy my Treo 650 because it had a camera! That's just one of those "nice to have's". Mine takes pictures like the first digital snapshot camera I bought 3 ~ 4 years ago... Functional, but not really worth the color toner to print it... (that's why I have a GOOD digital camera). Anyway, there have been times when I have been glad the Treo DID have a phone!

Remember..... you didn't by it to use as a camera! (hopefully)

    Merry Christmas!!

I am replying to this old thread because I now know whats going on.

When you take a pic and send it, it actually sends a clear photo... it just looks pixelated on the screen... not sure why... but it does.

If you go into your media app and look at the pic you sent, its clear.

Now I noticed the same thing happening when someone sends me a pic... its all pixelated... I found that if I save the pic into my media it shows clear and crisp.

Hope this helps some out there.

I think that (cloudy day thing) is really more of a general photography issue than a treo specific issue. Pictures taken on very sunny days tend to have sharp shadows and too much contrast (sort of like your avatar :cool The effect may be worsened by the fact that it is not a very high quality camera.

I notice I get my best pictures on bright, but cloudy days when the light is very uniform and there are just very soft shadows.

(The shadow effect in your avatar would have been worse if you had not been mostly in the shade)
