Cannot sync for anything!
I was trying to remove some medical programs from my Treo and once I removed what I thought were the correct files I now cannot sync. I know my cord is good as I had JUST loaded some stuff on it. I think I inadvertently deleted a necessary program needed to sync. ANY help would be of assistance, as I know enough about the inner workings of this phone to be dangerous. Obviously so.

If you deleted the application in the normal manner, there should be no interaction with the hot sync application, other than possibly the removal or alteration of a conduit. Have you checked the conduit setting to ensure it is properly enabled. Also, is your desktop Bluetooth enabled? If so, try doing a sync via Bluetooth.

The application was Epocrates and there were many many parts to it. I deleted everything I thought was part of the Epocrates program and thought maybe I deleted a necessary application for the sync process. Unfortunately my laptop is an older one and has no bluetooth capability. I am able to sync only through the cable.

If you have synced your data recently you should be able to do a hard reset to restore the treo to the factory defaults then resync with pc to overwrite handheld to restore the treo.

Just trying to learn and talk at the same time here.

The hard reset really is the only real alternative you have. Before doing it though, of course back up the device. Do you use a device based back up solution? If so and you have a sufficient number of backups, you can go back to 1 day before the botched surgery... After the hard reset/restore, then you can delete Epocrates via the front-end launcher.
Ideally, if you wanna start over again, you can install a program installation monitoring application such as Uninstall Manager from www.northglide.com. It and similar applications monitor application installation, which files are installed, where, et cetera, and when uninstallation is done, the process is much easier and safer.
I have Epocrates installed on 2 Centros and my 800W. On one of the Centros I opted to do a manual uninstall and gosh, what a mess I made. I then reinstalled it and used Uninstall Manager to delete it.
