cant hard reset

called the vzw tech support and got step by step instructions on how to do this and it does not work
go to home screen
hold the end button
depress the reset button
palmone will come on screen with pregress bar
once the circle palm logo pops up release the end button while keeping the reset button depressed
erase all data on screen push up button
i have done this numerous times and still no hard reset
what am i doing wrong
im trying to setup my sync account but there is data in from the previous user
the goal is to get my email setup

1. Hold down the Power button on your device. (On the Treo 600, use the one on top, next to the antenna.)
2. While holding down the power button, use your stylus to push the Reset Button on the back of your device.
3. When you see the "Palm Powered" screen appear, you can release the Power button.
4. A screen will appear asking if you want to Erase All Data. Press UP for yes (Hard Reset). Pressing any other button will perform a Soft Reset.
5. Your Treo will lead you through a recalibration. Once that is done, you can reload your backed-up information and applications.

no im not i go through all that and get no change im gonna try again

i tried again i hit the power button (treo 650) hit the reset button held both nothing happening released both at same time and the palm screen pops ups with a progress bar and theni depressed the buttons again release the power button when palm powered pops up and then hit the up key but no cal screen no reset any ideas on what im doing wrong

I believe you hold the power button in and just press and release the reset button. Then the palm powered screen appears (can't remember but I think it is grey) release the power button. (it is the red phone button)
