Default Can't hear when making a call or when receiving!

Was just about to sell my 650, and my friend put his sim card in and we made a call and couldn't hear. When dailing you can't hear it ringing and when I call the 650 it rang, but you cannot hear when answered.

Now would this have anything to do with the headphone jack being screwed up? Also the speaker wont play unless you wiggle around the headphone jack. Another thing is when you are making a call, the speaker button on the screen is not there. Any ideas? Sure would appreciate some help.

    Anybody?

sounds like you have a bad headphone jack. I believe there ia a contact that will hang shut or open that disables your speaker. When you do not have the speaker phone option that might be that the phone thinks you have a headset plugged in. I don't have a wired headphone to check this though.

If you wiggle the jack around and get your speaker check to see if you get the speaker phone option back. The same with the receiver. You may need to open your treo or send it in for repairs. I think most here do not recommend wired headsets from the problems you stated above. There maybe a thread here with details of fixing the jack if you do a search here.

Appreciate the info. I bet it does think I have a headphone stuck in there, because the speakers won't play unless I wiggle the headphone jack around.

Thanks, I'm going to look for that thread right now.

    Hi:

There are numerous threads here at ET regarding the dreaded headphone jack problem. This is one with much information as well as a couple of possible bypasses that may give you some help:

Take a look and if you need more just search the 650 board using "headphone jack" as the search term.

Let us know how you make out.

You could also buy this program that bypasses the headphone to help correct the known problem with the 650: http://software.everythingtreo.com/product.asp?id=4662

    Good luck to you.

EDIT: oh, it looks like you have to have the Volume Care Basic program installed first for this headset bypass program to work. It installs itself into the Volume Care Basic program: http://software.everythingtreo.com/product.asp?id=808

Thanks Dollface! Nice link. I appreciate everyone's help. I think I'm going to go with volume care, because I just want to sell it. Seems like the most economical way to go.
