| right, on a treo 650 you have to use the installation CD to change your PIM syncing choice. Did you open up the conduits like I suggested and see what the Memos, Tasks, Calendar and Contacts are set at? If they are set to sync with Outlook , it will have (Outlook) after each of those 4 conduits.
Yes Steve, even if you choose to sync PIM data to Outlook when using the installation CD, it still fully installs the Palm Desktop. I sync PIM data to Outlook yet I have a Palm Desktop on my computer, and I also run Windows XP Pro.

| Thanks for the reply and sorry my message was a little hard to interpret. The only outlook i have on my xp pro is office outlook. I always select the sync option in the conduit (instead of the desktop option) I am guessing my problem lies with office outlook instead of regular outlook. (should I look at getting regular outlook?)
And yes i did uninstall and install with cd (at least twice)
I had no problems sync'ing my 650 with my old laptop.
Very frustrated!!! Originally Posted by stevetaz As plunker asked, when you installed the desktop did you select Outlook or Palm Desktop as the choice? I have read through this thread a few times and I am unclear.
You say you searched your laptop and can only find Outlook. That sounds a bit odd. It has been awhile, but I believe that even if you choose Outlook the Palm Desktop is still installed.
If you rerun the setup, preferably off the CD, the opening screen should offer you the option to change your sync to Outlook or the Palm Desktop. Have you tried that?
Please clarify...

| Thanks for the help.
Yes I have configured the conduits to sync instead of to the desktop. What version of outlook do you have? Again none of my contacts or callenders show up on desktop or outlook.
Dumb question: What is PIM data? Originally Posted by dollface right, on a treo 650 you have to use the installation CD to change your PIM syncing choice. | Okay, Outlook and Office Outlook are the same. It is called Office Outlook because it is packaged with the Office program. BTW, which Outlook version do you have (2003, 2007, etc)?
PIM is Personal Information Manager, of which Outlook is one, Palm Desktop is another, etc.
I am glad you included your error log. I suggest you open Outlook > go to Help > select Detect and Repair and run that to see if you have corrupted files that can be fixed.
After that runs and finishes, shut down Outlook, Reboot your PC and after the reboot try connecting the Treo and see if it will Sync.
Let us know....

| The other obvious possibility is to stop trying to sync with Outlook. It doesn't sound like you are a long-time user of it so I have to ask why you are trying that route?
What did you sync your contacts and data to on the last laptop?
Perhaps moving to Palm Desktop might be an easier route for you? Were you able to find the Palm Desktop on your PC? Start > All Programs > Palm (or PalmOne) > Look for the Palm Desktop within that folder.
If there (and it should be) you will have to run the setup again (preferably from the CD) and change the sync from Outlook to Palm Desktop.
Just a thought....

| And finally, when you start up Outlook, go to > Help > About Microsoft Office Outlook. The popup will display the version.
Is this a newer version than what you had on your previous laptop? If it is Outlook 2007, take a look at this: http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...007update.html

| I run Office Outlook 2003 on both mine and DH laptops, he syncs that to his 650, I to my 755 with no problems. Instead of concentrating on a possible problem with Outlook (double check as Steve suggested that you aren't running Office Outlook 2007) I would suggest that you download the trial version of the program DBFixit and install to the Palm. Run it, and see if any PIM errors show up; it possibly could be one or several corrupt files. To fix the errors you have to buy the program, but at least you will be able to sync.
If you find errors using DBFixit and decide to buy the program to fix them, you should then rename your backup folder in your Palm file on the PC, then do a hotsync, in case you also have the corrupt file on your computer.

| You could be right dollface. I stayed away from DBFixit initially because the OP indicated it was syncing fine with the original laptop and tried it again after all the problems surfaced with the new one.
I also thought the fact he was unable to sync with the new laptop could have meant a corrupted Outlook install.
Perhaps DBFixit will do the trick.

| Yes, I am using Office outlook 2007( by the way i haven't found my prod. key yet if that would matter?). I have downloaded the 07 office outlook update a couple of days ago. Same problem. Do you guys know of any free outlook versions that would work w/ 650 & 750?
