-Thanks.
No free Office anything ; but no worries, you just need to take this update to sync with Office Outlook 2007; This link was previously supplied by Steve Taz. From the Palm website:

http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...007update.html

Do I need this update?

DO install this update if you:
  • Sync with Outlook 2007 on Windows Vista or Windows XP
  • Have Palm OS device
    e.g. Treo 755p, 680, Tungsten, Zire
  • Already installed Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager on your PC
  • Use the Palm Outlook Conduits to sync with Outlook (how to tell)

rockyras:

Did you try the Detect and Repair? Did you look for and try the Palm Desktop? Have you looked into DBFixit?

Why are you looking for the product key and why are you asking about free Office versions? The Palm Desktop comes with the device and is free and usually very easy to install and get working. You still haven't answered any questions about that.

We make suggestions and you seem to select one and ignore others and go off on a tangent.

By the way you answered this I must as a follow-up question. After you downloaded the Office update did you install it?

EDIT: BTW....If you open any of the Office programs and select Help > About XXX (any of the included programs, Outlook/Word/Excel) your product key will be displayed.

???????

I am just trying to give as much info as possible so we can pinpoint the problem.
At this point, I am not interested in taking the DBFix avenue.

Office outlook update did not fix my solution as it did others.

I am glad you were able to get it to sync. Now let's see how future syncs go. Hopefully you will continue to have no problems and your issue is resolved. Remember to do frequent syncs to keep any changes current on both the handheld and your PC. Most people who have problems find that out too late, after a crash and data loss. Then they realize, oh, I have been meaning to sync for the last three months, but I never found the time.

That is what we all wanted to see.....that your problem was solved!

BTW...you also might want to consider a card-based backup utility like Resco or BackUp Buddy. These give you the ability to restore everything, including third-party programs as well as settings without having to be at your PC. You would have to purchase the program, but if you ever have a crash while traveling, it pays for itself the first time! Remember that the built-in sync only restores the data. Just a thought....

Steve, before I wised up and bought Resco Backup, I had to do several hard resets due to crashes and lost everything. I hotsync daily, so after the hard reset I just did a hotsync with the conduit set to desktop overwrites handheld - and it restored everything including 3rd party programs. Remember, when you do a hotsync, it backs up everything into that "Backup" folder.

Hi dollface:

I am not quite clear on what you are saying. Does the built-in hotsync with a 755p now restore even third-party programs or are you referring to what Resco does?

I am talking about the program on my laptop - Hotsync Manager. Even with my old 650, I had to do several hard resets from crashes, and I just did a hotsync with the Backup conduit set to Desktop overwrites Handheld and it restored everything. Take a look in that Backup folder in the Palm folder on your PC, it has all of your programs including 3rd party apps.

Default THANKS But.....

Thanks a bunch guys!!!

Thanks for your help. I did finally get this to sync and I transfered my contacts to my new 750. The big problem I just noticed is that my custom fields from my contacts in the 650 did not carry over from my 750. (this is not good as I had a bunch of notes in my custom fields) Am I missing something, is there a way to get all of the info from my contacts? Thanks

As plunker asked, when you installed the desktop did you select Outlook or Palm Desktop as the choice? I have read through this thread a few times and I am unclear.

You say you searched your laptop and can only find Outlook. That sounds a bit odd. It has been awhile, but I believe that even if you choose Outlook the Palm Desktop is still installed.

If you rerun the setup, preferably off the CD, the opening screen should offer you the option to change your sync to Outlook or the Palm Desktop. Have you tried that?

Please clarify...
