Default can't hotsync my replacement treo

    Hi all,
So I had an incident with my original Treo, and I just received the replacement from Sprint. How do I get it to hotsync my old data onto my new phone? I plugged it in and pressed the hotsync button, but while it appears to be trying to access my computer via the phone, I keep getting a message on the computer that it can't identify the new USB hardware.

I also tried putting in the installation disk that originally came with the phone, but b/c the software is already on the cpu, if the autorun screen comes up at all, it keeps taking me to step 3, which is to register my device online. How do I set it up to hotsync?

    HELP!!!

Does the sync window get to the point where it states "Identifying User"? If so, then you need to make sure your user name is identified in preferences / owner. The name needs to be exactly the same as shown on the desktop software.

If the sync does not even recognize the hardware then you may need to backup your information, delete the software and reinstall using the new installation disk. There are other threads in this forum that describe the steps or you could go to the knowledge base at palm.com.

    Good luck!
