Can't Install Palm Software On Pc

My friend just bought a used treo 650 on ebay. It didn't come with the palm software cd, so he downloaded it straight from palm. He's trying to install the software 6.2 and his computer keeps hanging up when it tries to install the registry. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you know where I can get a slightly older version of the palm destop software? I tried to get an older version on the palm site but it wasn't compatible with the 650. Thanks in advance.

I would delete anything installed so far with palm and try and redownload from the site. I do not know if 6.2 is the right version for your phone. May depend on carrier and operating system. I checked palm and it is pretty straight forward select 650 and carrier then windows operating system.

i did check andvit is the right version of the software. We also deleted,uninstalled and re downloaded the software with no luck.

palm has a pretty extensive support area. what is the exact error message you are getting? I looked at one possible fix and it said if that did not work click on a contact link....for advanced users.

You might try ebay for a cd that matches your carrier and phone,
