Cingular Updater 1.17 not working???

I just downloaded the new ROM Updater v1.17 from the Palm website yesterday. I tried to do the update once yesterday and it failed about half way through and said it can't update from 1.15 to 1.17. Tried it again this morning and it did the same thing.

Anyone else having this problem, it's really annoying me now.

Hey there,

Make sure you've got the Treo on an AC adapter, not a USB charger.

Also, verify the version to download, I think there's like 3 different builds of that.

--> Treo650-X.XX-CNA

If that dosn't work let us know, there may be some other ideas out there, too.

I definitely got the correct build (CNG) but how is is possible to have it on an AC charger and hotsync cable at the same time?

I installed the 1.15 updater just fine using my USB charger/sync cable I wouldn't think this would be any different

I came close to doing the update, but stopped because I was worried that if I did, I would wipe out any additional programs I have on the phone. Does installing the update wipe out any 3rd party apps on the 650?

Ok, I guess that wasn't it then.

The hotsync cable has a plug in the bottom, below the hotsync button, where you can plug in the AC adapter.
That's how mine is, there may be different versions of the hotsync cable, though.

I followed the instructions posted on the Palm website to the letter and all of my third party apps were still on the phone when I finished with the exception of Volume Care which needs to be reinstalled from the disk. You may find you'll need to re-enter the registration code for some third party software.

Ran the updater. All third party apps including VolumeCare re-synched. I had to reinstall Voice Dialing. Had to delete and reenter VersaMail settings for my ISP to get the connection to my mail server working. It all works.
