Default Converting Rogers Treo 650 To Telus Mobilty???...please Help

Just looking for some help!...I have successfully unlocked my Rogers Treo 650. It seems that it is not compatible with the Telus Network. I realize that Rogers is a GSM network and Telus is not but Telus does offer the Treo 650. Does anyone know what can be done. When I insert the Telus SIM card it cannot find the network. I have had great support from the site where I got the software to unlock my phone but they believe it is just incompatibility now....Any suggestions?? Thanks!

there are different versions of the Treo. Mine is a verizon CDMA model. if the treo you have is GSM it will only work with GSM Networks even though it's unlocked. what is telus? is it GPRS or something?

NO. Nothing short of selling your Rogers GSM Treo and getting a Telus CDMA Treo will help. As you've already figured out, Rogers operates on a GSM network and Telus like Bell operates on a CDMA network. Two totally different networks operating in different frequencies. You need the correct hardware, in this case the phone specifically for that network to work.

Keep in mind that even if you get a Telus CDMA phone and want to switch over to Bell or vice versa in the future that you will HAVE TO get another CDMA phone even when they both operate in the same frequency and network. Why? Because the CDMA carriers are known to NOT accept a competitor CDMA's phone to be used on their network. So, hopping from one carrier to another will only cost you money if you go with CDMA. That happens with CDMA carriers in North America (ie. Sprint, Verizon, etc).

You may want to ask Telus if they will accept your Rogers phone and swap it for a Telus phone but I highly doubt they will do this.

Sell your Rogers phone and get a Telus phone or stick with Rogers since you've already unlocked it. Rogers isn't that bad. I love having an unlocked GSM phone that can work on any GSM network in the world. Went to HK and got a local SIM and had it working fine. You can't do that with Telus or Bell so you'll pay expensive roaming charges if you ever go anywhere.

For that reason alone, I will never go to a CDMA carrier.
