| Couple of Q's from a newbie please? good day and thanks for looking.
1. Am I better off buying a program such as "Verichat" etc., upgrading my plan
to Sprints Vision for email and internet and cancelling the $8 per month for 500 Text
messages?
(both my wife and I have the 650's)
2. What is the best way to load ringers from my Mac desktop to the 650?
3. Has anyone had any exp. with a Home TV/etc remote control s/w such
as onmiremote etc...?
4. How can I change and edit the Speed Dial buttons on the main phone page
with ease?
5. Is there anyway I can leverage my wifi network at home for services such as,
file transfer, VPN streaming video etc....?
Thanks so much group, glad I found you.

| Hopefully someone else can answer your first three questions. I played around with Omniremote briefly back when I had a Palm IIIx, but I haven't tried it on the Treo. Quote: |

You can then tap or use the 5-way center button on any of the buttons to open it and edit. Note that you have 5 pages of buttons to play with. Quote:

| You would need this adapter to use WiFi, as the Treo doesn't support it natively.

Sprint's data plan is the cheapest around. As far as your messaging plan goes, though, you'll need to keep that if you're an SMS user. Sprint doesn't count SMS messages as "data". Quote: |

There may be some who like it, though. Try doing a search. Hope this helps.

| Thanks but... Thank you again.
I was trying to get rid of the SMS messaging as it is only used between my wife and I and I was thinking of using a program such as VeriChat in it's place thus saving the 8 bucks on the SMS charge.
Make sense?
Thanks

| Tom - How long have you been a Sprint customer and what type of plan do you have? Not having Vision with the Treo is like, well, a car with only 1/2 gallon of gas in it at all times! Can't go too far. I have Vision for free, because I emailed Sprint and asked for it - I also have N&W starting at 6pm and a 10% discount (not biggies, many people have lots more, but it is nice). If you have two lines, then you are probably paying over $70-75/mo. If they are separate, roll them together under one bill or one plan and you will probably save some money there. You should ask them for a free Vision and see what they say. If no, then if you pay $10 for Vision (which is unlimited) and then you would get the 2nd one for 1/2 off. That's the worse case. I am looking for an IM client right now myself. I like IM or email and have never been much for SMS - but I am an older guy and all of my friends, family, clients are email, IM or, gosh darn it, phone call people.
IMO, having a Vision plan will give you more options and unleash the power of the Treo (OK, that was a little cheezy..)
Oh, feel free to PM me if you have additional questions. |

| Thanks and Thanks bub,
Does the IM (Verichat) work as well as SMS when left "always on"?
I'm trying to offset the $8 a mo for SMS and bundle IM and internet access
for the $10
I've emailed sprint and have asked them to set us up with the I/N access.
What are the big differences between the 10 and 15 dollar plan?
Thanks once again.

| I don't use IM myself on the Treo, but you should be aware that some clients use SMS to send messages.

Tom | $10 & $15 plans - Picture Mail for a non-EDVO phone. For an EDVO phone (the 6700 and upcoming Treo 700) it is the standard data plan - $20 w/Picture Mail.
Not to run you off to somewhere else, but check out this search - there are a lot of discussions here that might help your decision process. |
