Default Cover to Speaker

I orginally posted here that I broken the infrared cover off my phone now I have
I feel so silly. I took it to the Verizon shop see if beaming would work (I have never used it) and the guy tells me that what I broke off was the cover on the speaker not the infrared port cover. DOH!

He asked me was I hearing sound ok when it rings or when I talk and I am.
So he said functionally it is fine. he says I just need to make sure nothing gets in there.

So now I ask the question again ....I should just use a few drops of glue to put it back on or should I send it for repair?

Are you talking about the back cover to your phone?

I would think if the case is broken you could glue it together or may a new case.

No not the back cover. The little oval shaped cover on the front the earpiece cover.

My cover where the speaker is located is all one piece. If you want to glue , glue....if you want to spend the money get it fixed. The only downside to fixing it yourself is if you put so much glue it gets on the speaker. This is a judgement call that only you can make.....

Hi Citylover:

Is there any sign of how it was attached before it came off? For example, a little glue on an edge or perhaps it is a "press-in" fitting that maybe bent a bit?

Looking at my 650, it appears that the sound comes out of the two middle edges, top and bottom. Looks like you could put a bit of glue at the outside corners, left and right (narrowest corners), without interferring with the sound transmission. In this kind of application, I do not think more would be better. Apply sparingly.

This is the small oval piece in the very center on the front of the phone. it looks like it had 2 posts and yes was "pressed -in" or "snapped in". It shows those posts are in their place in the phone and detatched from the cover that broke off. (I had dropped the phone).

So did you try the LIGHT application of glue (possibly clear silicone) at the outside corners?
