MeanGene,
How do I enable my QCP ringtone once on my Treo 650? My carrier is Cingular not Sprint. Does that make difference?
I've seen a few threads out here about ringtones but I don't think any of them touch on how to make custum polymorphic ringtones so here we go...
This info comes from the Sprintusers website but this method should work with any Treo 650 (probably with the 600's and 700's too-although I haven't tested those) regardless of carrier. BTW, sprintusers.com is not maintained by Sprint.
Use this tutorial to create your ringtones:
http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11225
Use this site to send your files to your phone (since there are no programs on the Treo to support qcp files the sync app will only let you move to the memory card--and you cant select ringtones, in sound properties, from the memory card)
http://www.sprintusers.com/focus/
Once you receive the file, save it to your phone (not memory card) and it will now be displayed in your sound properties and available as a ringtone.
So this takes a bit of work but it's worth not having to use (or pay for) a 3rd party app.

Why does the website not allow me to send my ringtone to my phone??? i regestered and everything and it still is telling me that there is an error... any ideas?
I download the file , the pure voice converter, and after i unzip the file, and click to start the set-up, a black box appears for like a split second and then nothing happens. Any ideas?
I got the converter to work, just one question. I made the file for the treo to read, i just cant send it because i use cingular. Does anyone know how to send the .qcp to the treo for cingular?
Even if you get the .qcp file on the Treo it isn't recognized. I was able to get the file onto the Treo using the Palm Quick Install...
I missed the last step, I sent the file to my phone using the link but I have not received it yet. I'll keep you posted...
