data connection issue?

hey folks.
For some reason I seem to need to reset my Sprint treo 650 each time I want to get onto blazer. Searched for connection then cancells it 2 mins later. once i rset it it connects. happens with good reception and poor reception, as initially i thought it may be poor reception (low amount of bars) but it isnt.
Does anyone have an idea what could cause this. It peaked my interest the other day 9as i dont use Blazer or connect online too much) when II tried to set Snappermail to rec every hour and it wasnt doing anything.
Any software issues known?
I use MegaLauncher as a launcher but that shouldnt be the problem.
I noticed now I have an arrow pointing to the right on top of the bars showing connection - does that mean im data connected now all the time? and if it is why?
I noticed under prefs/network that if you menu/options/preferences there is a choice to check the box that says "connection to the data network whenever the phone is powered on". Do I want to check it? It is currently unchecked along with the next box that states "ask before connecting to the internet".
