I've just gotten a Treo 650 from a friend of mine. Verizon made me sign up for a dataplan to go with the phone. I opted for the cheaper one at $25 a month and I get 10mb download each month. I've been afraid to use mobile internet because I'm not sure how much data I would use and I know how cellphone companies love to bleed you when you go over whatever alottments they give you. As a poor graduate student I can't afford the $45 unlimited plan, but I'd like to be able to use the mobile web I'm paying for. How much data does something like aol instant messaging take up in a month? What about gmail?

For me the best thing to do is the 45.00 a month because you have unlimited data and ypu do have to worry about how much mb that you have use believe ypu will have to pay a higher price (learn from experiences) .The sale rep told me that they donot know how much 10mb is so how can i know what 10mb what it is my self .You can go into 1 website and download 10mb and ypu are screw for the rest of the month . Hope this will help.

I had to get the data package when I bought my treo as well but I just waited a month or so and called and canceled it without any hassle or penalties. I had to opt for the pay as you go plan but I never use it so no cost to me
