Directory Assistant is back!!

I just got an email from Rick and here is the jist of the download info for the brand new Directory Assistant:

Yep and it works very well. I used it yesterday to look for a Sears for a tire repair. Found it, showed up, had the tire spent and spent some money on a couple of non-tire things.

Does this program need google maps? Or does it replace google maps??

Hey guys I am doing something wrong... I have the trydra on the card but it will not find maps or connect to internet for it. I checked there site and they said the fix is to install from web to card or treo. Did that. Still did not work.

So I copied google maps to phone from card. still did not find maps. I can open and use google maps with no problem just not with trydra.. any ideas??

Got it guys!! I just copied the program back and forth. I used filez to go into the launch and copied the prc to the phone. I then copied google maps back to the launch on the card. It works great. I could not see what file in google I copied back (no ext.) it just had google maps.

Yeh, I had to really fool with Google Maps too and I find that it works if you download Google Maps from the website and install it into main memory. I could not get it to work with Google Maps on the SD card. But I will try and use FileZ to move the .prc file back to the card, like you say, and try it.

But I LOVE the new Directory Assistant. I looked up my name and found it and used the dial feature and it immediately rang my home phone. Love the Directions feature too with the swap feature (swaps between TO and FROM the chosen address)

I thought google maps was the coolest program if you do not have a GPS. But the directory assistant makes google maps even better. I would search google maps and could not find the location but the assistant finds what google did not.... Thanks for the thread Dollface....:wink:

I moved the Google Maps back to my card and it still works fine; so if anyone has any problems with Google Maps working with DA, I suggest you re-download Google Maps from the Google website and put into main memory, then using a launcher program or FileZ, move the .prc file onto your card and it should work fine. I think there might be a glitch though with Google Maps and the ZOOM In function; I was viewing a map using the Satelite feature and kept zooming in (about 5 times). After that my palm froze and I had to do a soft reset and I found that all of my installed programs were back to their trial versions, all my registration keys were wiped out. I did a hotsync and chose the Backup for the PC to overwrite the Palm and it set everything back to how it was. Phew!!

look at there site. It seems to me that you can program directions, find locations, and search for stuff easier than G. maps. The directory assistant seems to have a more accurate data base than google maps. In my home town it seems if the business is not listed as a chamber member it does not show up. D.A. seems to have everything in there...so far.
