Documents to Go Crahses Palm/Treo 650
I have used Documents to Go for years. Recently starting it resets/re-boots the whole Palm/Treo. I use Palm Applications v.5.2H, a Mac, Doc to Go v. 5.004. I have cleared off more memory on the Palm, re-downloaded Doc to Go and re-installed it on handheld. (Before trying all this Doc to Go went to its list of files screen, but trying to open a file reset the whole Treo.)
Any thoughts?

V5 of DTG? What release did you install? I am V9. When you try to open a file, is it resetting from the file launch screen when you go to the SD card? If so and you have uninstalled, executed a soft reset and reinstalled the latest release available to you, then remove the SD card and reinstert it and see what happens.
Why: I experienced exactly the same problem upon attempting to access a file on the card using its file manager option. DTG support suggested the possibility of the card having a problem and further suggested I reformat the card and see what happens. Well, I chose to check the card and noted no problems with it when accessing it from my card reader; hence, no reformatting was done. I reinserted the card and gosh, no more problems. I was amazed. If you have a card reader I would suggest copying its contents to a desktop, reformat the card and then copy the contents from the desktop back to the card.
Also, if you do not have the DTG management tool, I would grab it from their site and with it move as much of the application to the card as possible.
Also, make sure you have as much free memory on the device as possible and try keeping the DB cache at around 3mb or so free. Reset Doctor is an application that does this and is available from http://www.hobbyistsoftware.com/reset-doctor-more.php. I have Reset Doctor set on my 650 to clear the DB cache at 3mb, enabled the exchange manager and lock the preferences. I have successfully run the DB clearing at 2mb with no problems.

Based on your comments I have discovered that (my re-loaded) DTG works when the card is out, but resets the Palm/Treo when the card is in. (I have tried two different cards which both read fine and work on the palm fine.) I don't know if this would have solved the problem prior to re-loading, etc.
So at this point I have a workable, although imperfect (and probably not great for the card), situation of removing the card whenever I want to use DTG. Any further thoughts? I don't know if shelling out the money to update DTG to current version would fix this (my "old" DTG used to work fine with the card).

You can always test drive a newer release of DTG. Now, are you in a position to reformat the card? If so, preferably with a card reader, first copy all of the files on the card to your desktop, then format the card and copy the files back to it, insert the card and then execute a soft reset and see what happens.

could there be a corrupt DTG file on the card? copying them around will only copy the problem. i've been there before. actually managed to narrow it down to a file type which helped.
one option is to open the native file on the computer and then re-export that file to the palm.

I had a similar problem (only happened with word files.. excel was fine).. It was fixed by purchasing the upgrade to DTG.
I found it offensive to purchase an upgrade to fix a problem, but it worked.
Perhaps for the same reason as mentioned above.. there was a corrupt file which could have been fixed another way. Though I did try unistalling and reinstalling..

Try to reinstall the program maybe their is a porblem with the software files.

Hi:
Don't know if you have looked and I am not sure if this is for an older version, but I also had problems with crashing anytime I opened a document and apparently, this is not uncommon. DataViz has a Tech Tool that I used and it did cure the behavior:

Note that I am not sure if your version is supported with the tool and I am not sure about the Mac OS. I suggest you read through the info to see if it applies.
I hope this helps,
