Does anyone know how to assign GMail to the Mail button?

I have been assigning buttons to apps on my Treo 650 for quite a while now. Just installed the Gmail app, which is working fine, but for some reason when I tried to assign Gmail to the Mail button it doesn't show up in the long list of available apps.

The only difference between Gmail and the other apps is that Gmail is a java app and requires the JVM. The rest are PRC files. Could that be the reason? If so, how do I fix as this would be a severe limitation.

You cannot because of its Javacity (not a real word). Ben
