Default does the antenna come off and is there a place to buy replacement oem parts?

asphalt took a chunk out of my antenna, wondering if i should try pulling it off and replacing it? i'm also missing some other peices. is there any where i could buy an extra infrared part or little stuff like that?

I did the same thing to mine and bought a new antenna off ebay. There is a screw under a small rubber plug in the back, under where the antenna mounts. Unscrew it pull the antenna, reverse for the new one, and you're done.

Does anyone know if the antenna is needed at all? Does it really make the signal stronger? It's not that tall.

Also if it comes off with that screw, how come there are no custom antennas? Like different colors, designs, whatever.

Or if its not needed maybe a nub/cap.

Yours looks so shiny and new. Meanwhile, the paint is peeling off the edges of my 5-way button from excessive use!

thanks for the help. they're 40 bucks on ebay though. looks like i'll be making a trip to my local vz store w/ my mini screw driver ;)

Just be aware that removing/replacing the antenna, if the phone is under warranty, will most likely void that warranty.
