erasing in versamail... - Treo Forums

I've got about 10 messages on versamail that every time I try to delete them the treo resets. I can't synchronize the account because every time i try to alter the account settings the treo resets and the account settinggs don't "stick".

Is there any other way to erase these messages?

..and no I don't use versamail anymore, but somehow these messages got imported (from a backup??) and now I can't erase them. I'm using snappermail, btw...

I don't know about your version (other thread) but on the palm site under sprint phones it has a fix. Your database is corrupted and you need to use filez to delete some files on versamail asc or something. Once you have deleted them you have to reset up your mail acc so you might want to write down your settings before you delete the files.

I have had a corupted database a couple of times. I think it comes from the hotsync coping unread messages from my pc to the palm. I have disabled the hotsync for versamail and set my palm to leave a copy on server and have not had the problem since.

I eventually managed to delete all the messages using a software called Uninstaller that revealed a few files that the normal Palm delete wasn't revealing. After a few hit and misses I eventually found the versamail database files and deleted everything. Managed to get versamail back to zero which is perfect so I don't need to use it any more. Freed up half a MB too!! Now back to snappermail...

emdub, Have you figured out what causes these corupt files in versamail?

I have not confirmed what causes this but it seems like when I had unread mail on the pc and it was synced to versamail it caused this problem. Since I use the mail program when out of town or away from my office (seldom) I don't need to sync. Is there a good reason or need to sync versamail??

I don't sync versamail or any other mail program. When I need to use mail I use it solely on the treo or solely on the mac so any syncing I mentioned is with the mail server.

I'm guessing that in my case the corruption happened with the backup application after updating / replacing my rom. Basically: made full backup, updated rom, restored from backup, corrupted files. This is what I'm guessing happened, especially because Versamail was updated during this ROM change.
