| Europeans N text messaging Is it me, or are eurpeans are more frequent at using text messaging. I do understand that in many euro countries it makes more sense financially to send a text message rather than make a phone call.
However, i have noticed that even in the states europeans are still sending text messages at a higher rate. I am of european descent, and i do fall into the mix, just unsure WHY? Is it because we are more distance and like to stay that way?
Like your input....
quick poll
A. European TextMess Addict
B. European Non-addict
C Non-euro TextMess Addict
D Non-euro Non TextMess Addict

I'm a big Fat A | I'm a C. But then I lived in Italy for a long time, that's where I picked up my habit.

| I am normally in US, but currently working in Algeria. Personnaly I have never had much use for text messaging. That may change with a $3.00 minute roaming charge for a phone call home.
I just never saw much need for pushing a lot of little buttons to send text when I could speak with a simple phone call.
My kids on the other hand, text a lot. My son got a $300.00 phone bill. That was significantly lowered when he became responsible for paying.
Regards,
Mike

I just never saw much need for pushing a lot of little buttons to send text when I could speak with a simple phone call. | I was stationed in Italy from 96 to the end of 02. Cell phones were big in Europe sooner than they were here. Before competition started driving prices down, it was MUCH cheaper to send quick text msgs than incur a connection fee then the fee for calls. So everyone got into the habit. I've used it from country-to-country, too. While still in Italy, I routinely sent msgs to and from Germany. Once here in the states, I used to send them back to Italy and Germany, when I had Verizon. I'm on Sprint now, and their messaging format's not compatible with the GSM networks in Europe. My msgs come through as gibberish. But I'm still a fairly heavy user here. And now I've got SharkMsg on my Treo, which comes in extremely hand when I can't answer the phone at work.

| Havent been outside teh US except for on a cruise once, regardless, I text all the time. I basicalyl text and email folks more than calling on my Treo. But that's why I have it. Despite no T9, its much better than when having my T616 to text folks with. |

Also, you might consider changing the title to the post to Europeans and Text Messaging (though I see yout txt pun )to get more views and responses from people as you desire for your research. |

| Or maybe including something about the poll in the title of the post? Might get more responses.
