    Default Excess files and programs

Is there a guide that can help me know which files I can delete from Treo 650 so that I can create more space? Do I use Java? I see some of those files but don't know if I use it. How can I know. Sometimes I see files names (using FileZ) that has music in the title but I don't store music on my unit, only on my card. Any suggestions?

I haven't heard of any specific guide. Have you run trials of different apps? If so, you may still have residuals on your Treo from those trials. Since you're using FileZ, one thing you can do is look at the creators of the files you're wondering about. If they match up to an app you tried but got rid of, you should be able to delete them. If you've been to a site that had required Java plugin, it may have automatically installed on your Treo (some have had to do manually).

Are they ringtones you have? Example?

Default Excess files - follow up

Now that you've suggested it...I can find any files with "music" in the name so I'll keep watching for it. Thanks for the tip on clean up of the old deleted files, I'll check for that.

When I sort by size, I get "MultiMail" at 683K. I don't use MultiMail that I know of or VersaMail either. I use SnapperMail. Can the others be deleted or does SnapperMail build on those to operate?

Tell me about the 700P. I thought I heard that the screen resolution wasn't as good. Was that right or is that the W? What do you have in the 700P over the 650? Worth the upgrade? Thanks for the help. Craig

The "MultiMail" files you see are actually VersaMail. They're part of the ROM, so you can't delete them using normal means. The only way would be to install a custom ROM.

Actually, the 700p has 320x320 (same as the 650) screen resolution, as opposed to the 700w's 240x240.

The 700p has more RAM available than the 650 (roughly 60 megs as opposed to roughly 21). The 700p has a 1.3 megapixel camera, as opposed to a VGA camera. The 700p has bluetooth 1.2, as opposed to 1.1. The 700p runs PalmOS 5.4.9. The 700p uses EvDO, if it's available in your area. Blazer's been updated in the 700p, making it slightly faster/better even if you're not in an EvDO area. pTunes comes in the ROM of the 700. This is just off the top of my head so I may have missed something. Hope this helps!

    Default Network Profile files

Does anyone know which files control the network profiles used to make data connections for email and the web? I do have a custom rom and my data connections simply quit working recently. The other parts of the Treo 650 work fine (phone and sms) but it won't connect. I have been working with my provider but to no avail. I am guessing the db or profile might be corrupted because it has worked in the past.
