How do I get FileZ on my 650 without using Hotsync it's not compatible with my PC?

If you can't Hot Sync your Treo to your computer, I can think of three alternatives:

1. Have someone else with a IR-capable PDA beam it to you.
2. E-mail it to yourself as an attachment. It's smallish (<200K).
3. Hot Sync your Treo on a friend's computer after you set up a temporary user account.

I agree that it's a great app and worth having.

Filez should not have any problem with a microsoft system. It should download and then you may or might not have to run the exe. file and it goes to your palm quick install. Do you have palm quick install on your pc?

plunker, I think what mikemagolan is saying is that he can't, for whatever reason, HotSync his Treo to his PC. At any rate, Filez is downloaded as a .zip file that extracts to a folder containing the .prc file and some support docs. There's no .exe "installer" that I've heard of, and if there were, he'd still have to HotSync to get Filez on his Treo.

I must have misunderstood his post. I guess what you are saying is he does not have a USB port or a serial port that he could convert to USB? Bluetooth connections are pretty cheap.

It has been a while since I installed filez but I am sure you are right about the procedures. I seem to remember clicking on the exe file but i am sure I unzipping the file and if I remember correctly it placed itself in to palm quick install. I might be thinking of a couple of games I downloaded that went right to quick install, though.

The IR from another Treo solved UNTIL I get my PC at work running with hotsync again. I have never been able to download attachements from an email use the balzer to check my email what do I need to have or do?

Glad the IR method worked. I don't use an e-mail client so I can't tell you the exact steps. You can try simply e-mailing Filez.prc as an attachment, downloading the e-mail on your Treo, and seeing what happens. If you don't already have an e-mail client installed, configured, & working, this way may be more headache than it's worth.

Thanks for the help. Have had my treo fro about a month. Are there any apps. you strongly suggest? Do you use volume care? My bluetooth sound is very weak, was thinking about getting volume care?

VolumeCare works well, but be aware that it does not work with Bluetooth headsets.
If you want to play with BT headset volume, you can try BTMute. Satisfaction may vary, but for $5 it may be worth the gamble.

As far as necessary apps, I urge you to get a backup app (I useBackupBuddyVFS Pro) today. NorthGlide's Uninstall Manager is also an excellent investment. Everything else extends functionality as you see fit, but if your Treo's hosed nothing else matters. mho.
