    Default firmware update vz 1.05

so ladies and gentlemen, honored treo users,
was there a definitive answer as to the true importance of the update from 1.04 to 1.05? just received my used treo and it has 1.04. after alot of lurking through the threads here, i'm really sitting on the fence about the update. i don't want to kill my phone before i get to use it, however, if the update is integral to keeping my treo stable, i might take the risk.
thanks for your info and help to a newb.

check this thread out if you haven't already. As far as benefits if you rtead the threads about 1.05 you can make a decision on what's best for you. You might also want to get other opinions at treocentral and other forums before you decide It's your phone and your call.

Your welcome good luck in whatever you decide to do. I understand about not wanting to fry the phone. Keep us posted should you decide to take the plunge. In one of the 105 update threads I think it said something about doing the update twice on the same treo but I could be mistaken.

I think updates will help your treo be more stable and less errors. I would follow the above advice on the install by searching here and on the palm site. I believe the treos that had problems were updated without a power cord plugged in. If this was not done then you had to do some procedures to get your treo back to normal.

plunker is correct about the posts saying do it with the power cord plugged in and if you uae the uasb port to plug the power in be sure to use the rear ports on your laptop or desktop the front usb plugs are like an external hub and you may not have the right amount of juice and stability to get the update to work. Again good luck.Good luck
